Remembrance Sunday 2018

On Sunday 11th November Maldon Sharks Swimming Club held a fundraising event at South Woodham Leisure Centre to raise funds for the Royal British Legion and commemorate the centenary of the signing of the Armistice in 1918.

The “We Will Remember Them” 100 X 100m relay saw members, coaches, parents and siblings of Maldon Sharks complete a continuous swimming relay totalling 10km in a time of 2hours 55 minutes 50 seconds. Club captain Abbey Mortimer-Ford led off the relay starting at 4pm followed by 99 swimmers each completing 100m in distance with the final swimmer Coach Ian Lane finishing the relay at 6.56pm.

The club raised a total of £400 which was handed over to staff from the leisure centre to add to the money collected during an afternoon of activities organised to mark the centenary and raise money for this worthwhile cause.
