Maldon Sharks Swimming Club achieved some record breaking results at this year’s Essex County Age Group Championships, as the Club had some unprecedented successes in the pool. The Championships took place over 3 weekends, commencing 20th January at Basildon Sporting Village before visiting the Aquatic centre Olympic Pool at Stratford on the 4th Feb and ending this weekend on the 19th February, again at Basildon.

The club, who train at Blackwater Leisure Centre in Maldon and South Woodham Leisure Centre, saw a record 17 of their swimmers qualify for championships this year in a total of 23 events. To qualify for the Championships is in itself an achievement, but this year the swimmers excelled themselves, resulting in some fantastic results and some brilliant personal successes. The Club managed 5 overall Age-Group finalists, including a Bronze medal for one of our youngest swimmers and one swimmer gaining a Regional Qualifying time to enable them to swim at The East-Region Age Group Championships later in the year. This made it overall the Club’s most successful Championships to date.

Well done to all that took part for performing so well and for being such great ambassadors for Maldon Sharks and the Maldon District as a whole.
